Generous on the palate, this wine from the famous site is ripe with wild strawberry and pomegranate fruit and accented with the distinct spiciness of cardamom. It displays its youth through assertive tannins and oak-derived scents, layering the thick finish with cinnamon bark.
Bright, compressed fruit stars in this approachable and affordable Pinot Noir that’s rounded with tannin and focused acidity. Cranberry, orange, cherry and cola flavors highlight its medium-bodied power and concentration.
A staple of California winemaking, this vintage is as good as ever—perfectly polished, with light aromas of toasted oak and crisp green apple, lemon-lime and tempting butter flavors, and a medium-bodied frame. The texture is silky smooth, and everything tastes harmonious and balanced.
An appellation wine that’s affordable and instantly likable, this has strong forest and mushroom elements, seeming at once rustic and sophisticated. Cranberry and orange tones add brightness to the savory character, framed by fine tannins.
This unoaked Chardonnay is powered by tangy lemon and pineapple flavors. It’s medium-bodied and has nice concentration without seeming overly ripe. Butter and vanilla touches weave through its lively fresh fruit notes.
Fragrant, with clove, sandalwood and white pepper accents to the pure core of ripe cherry, raspberry and kirsch flavors. Smooth and creamy.
Plum, mineral and toffee notes mingle with toasted cumin and black tea accents. Thick and chewy on the finish. Appealing for the intensity and long finish.
Focused on flinty green apple, pear and light citrus flavors, this is a well-balanced effort. Light oak plays a subtle role in the background.

Attractive from the start, with a mix of green apple, pear, citrus and light oak flavors. Offers a medium-weight profile on the long, clean finish.
Deep, rich red colour with a good purple tint and a tremendously rich, deep, complex bouquet of toasty oak-tinged chocolate and mocha, and some fruitcake. Tremendous flavour and explosive depth and persistence. A very impressive and dramatic grenache. A very special wine.
Beautiful fragrance here – fresh field roses, raspberry, aniseed and dried mint, almost a chocolate thing going on too. Medium bodied, gentle sweep of sweet fine grained tannin, plump red berries lend succulence, but it’s not confected or gooey in any sense. Dusty and spicy, great length of flavour, with earthy tannin grounding it and pushing it long. Incredibly good wine. Hard to choose between the 2013 and 2014. The former with maybe more length and impact, the latter all grace and charm. 96+ points, though could even twist my arm to 97. Drink 2020-2037.
Deep red colour with a good purple tint; the bouquet is sweetly ripe and berry-like, with some seaspray-like notes. The palate is rich and deep, opulent and flavoursome, with charm and character. It's very intense, powerful, concentrated and long on the finish. The tannins are ample and firm, and oak is beautifully handled and under-played. A superb, luxurious wine. (Biodynamic. Grown on sand. Hand-picked, destemmed, berry-sorted, 50% crushed, wild fermented, aged on lees in 1 and 2 YO French oak. Unfined. 3336 bottles)
Very deep red colour with a good tint of purple, the bouquet is rich and complex with smoky, toasty and earthy nuances overlying spice, dark berry and plum notes. The wine is full-bodied and ample, filling the entire mouth, and textured with emery-like tannins. Alcohol is well-balanced. Firm and lively, with a very long aftertaste.
Medium red colour with a tinge of purple. The bouquet is very smoky, earthy and savoury. Later, more floral and aromatic than its High Sands siblings. The tannins are quite firm. Savoury spice flavours. It's very dry and very different. A lighter, elegant style of grenache. It's not easy to see the value in this, a very left-field grenache, but I have to admit it grew on me. (Vines planted 1946. Biodynamic. Hand-picked, destemmed, berry-sorted, 50% crushed, wild fermented in two ceramic egg fermenters. Unfined. 1128 bottles) 29/6/2017
Medium to deep red colour with a trace of purple, the bouquet earthy, dusty and savoury, with intensity and refreshing high acidity. It’s lighter on its feet than the other High Sands vintages - less dense and fleshy, but still with abundant tannins. A very bright, focused, fine grenache.
Deep red colour with tinges of purple. The bouquet has a strong smoky/char aspect and seems oaky, while the palate is very big and firm, full-bodied and concentrated, with abundant firm tannins, which have a trace of hardness about them. Rather high acid as well. If I didn't know better I'd say it was a bit too oaky. The tannins are mouth-numbing. A weighty and very firm wine, which needs years.
Rich texture with noticeable oak and ample peach/lemon curd flavors. Vanillin oak with some citrus notes.
A good value, this chardonnay is round and medium-bodied with lemon aromas and melon, peach flavors. Soft on the palate with a hint of spice and lemon.
A pinot with lovely red fruit, herbs and toast. The acid isn't pronounced, so it isn't an ideal burger match. That said, it's tasty solo.
The rose bandwagon is beginning to overflow. Cambria is on board with a crisp rose of Pinot Noir that inviting and refreshing and everything you could want from rose. Notes of strawberry and citrus, balancing acidity and a lingering finish that offers a note of peach.
Spicy, with a stemmy touch that adds backbone and vitality. The core is built around zesty wild berry, blackberry and raspberry flavors. Most impressive on the finish, which tingles with vibrancy.
Kendall-Jackson is in a groove with all of its wines, and the 2014 Pinot from its Anderson Valley vineyard hits the mark. Distinctive for the rich, extracted flavors of earth, wild berry, gravel, road tar and licorice. Impressive on the finish, where the tannins offer grip and a measure of suppleness.
This syrah has lovely red fruit — cherry and a hint of cranberry. It has a great quench of tangy fruit and bright acid — perfect to take on that beefy puck of protein.
A little discombobulated when first opened, it came together very prettily after just 20 minutes. Shows that owner, Kendal-Jackson, can move with the times, and the climate, and make fleshy but elegant wines when the northern California climate calls for it.
