Enjoyable to drink now and over the next year or two. Highly recommended.
Exploring The Best New Releases from Sonoma and Beyond The 2017 Pinot Noir Edmeades is another attractive wine in this range. Dark cherry, plum, lavender and spice are lifted in this nuanced Anderson Valley Pinot. The flavors lean towards the darker end of the spectrum, but the wine remains very much medium-bodied in structure.
USA, California: Sonoma 2017 Vintage About 75% of the fruit for this wine was picked before the Labor Day heat spikes. Pale to medium ruby-purple in the glass, the 2017 Pinot Noir Russian River features warm red cherries, cranberry sauce, blueberries and blackberries notes with underlying warm cinnamon and allspice notions. Light to medium-bodied with warm fruits in the mouth, it has grainy tannins and juicy freshness on the finish.
Medium-light ruby; fragrant, spicy, Bing cherry fruit aroma with a hint of cola; medium body; nicely balanced, elegant, red fruit flavors with bright acidity and some richness in the silky mouthfeel; medium tannin; lingering aftertaste. Enjoyable now, though deserves a few more years of bottle aging. Highly recommended.
Medium ruby; forward, deep, earthy, spicy, dark cherry fruit aroma with hints of mocha and baking spices; medium body; cherry and red berry fruit flavors with a slight tartness on the finish; medium tannin; lingering aftertaste. Easy to drink and enjoy now and over the next year or two. Highly recommended.
Fairly direct and nicely accessible black cherry aromas tinged with the slightly tangy notes of purple fruits and blueberries give this well-made, early-drinking wine plenty of charm. It is nicely supple even now with hints of velvet to its texture and if it slows down just a bit at the end, it will still shine in service with grilled steaks and chops in the here and now. 1 star.
Medium-light to medium ruby; assertive, earthy, fragrant, red cherry and cranberry fruit aroma with floral notes, and hints of clove and cocoa; medium to medium-full body; nicely balanced and easy to drink red fruit flavors; medium tannin; lingering aftertaste. Highly recommended.

A touch awkward, with gravelly earth accents amid savory herb, dried berry and anise notes.
Clean, pure and spicy, with complex red berry, underbrush and savory notes that maintain focus and depth as the firm tannins kick in.
Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Aromas of turned earth, oak cask and black cherry. A muscular, full-bodied style offering thick flavors of dark red and black cherry, blackberry, black tea, and espresso. There is sprightly acidity that keeps the fruit load upbeat. Highly atypical for this vineyard showing unusually prominent tannins, dark rather than red fruits, and sappy rather than demure fruit character.
Medium-light ruby; fragrant, floral, raspberry and cherry fruit aroma with a light note of charred oak, and hints forest floor and baking spices; medium body; forward, elegant, silky, red fruit flavors with a hint of cola, and fleshy richness in the mouthfeel; medium tannin; lingering aftertaste. Enjoyable now, though would also benefit from a few more years of bottle aging. Highly recommended.
Woody oak and elongated tannin mark this powerfully built wine, which is angular in acidity. Juicy citrus amplifies the freshness, lingering in cola and cardamom.
A pretty and softly spicy nose combines notes of red and blue pinot fruit. There is a lovely sense of verve to the delicious, round and supple middle weight flavors that possess reasonably good depth and persistence on the dusty and nicely balanced finish. This could use a bit more overall complexity but it is certainly very pretty. Worth a look, especially for value. 89 points.
Dark garnet color in the glass. Oak-infused berry aromas lead to a full-on attack of purple and black berry fruit flavors framed by noticeable, but well-toned tannins. A Cab lovers Pinot, with a lush mouthfeel and an unctuous fruit finish.
Although its stated 14.9% alcohol might reasonably lead one to expect a big, strapping wine, that turns out not to be the case here, and, while the wine is certainly ripe, it shows nary a hint of excess and is, if anything, a bit restrained in richness. It favors firmness in balance and has a good grasp on continuous, well-defined dark cherry fruit, and its closing combination of acidity and slightly cramping tannins makes a strong case for upwards of a half-decade of age. 89 points. One star.
Pleasantly fruity and a bit brisk on the nose in a way that suggests that it will be a Pinot that is on the lighter and leaner end of the varietal spectrum, this wine turns out to be rather fuller and more substantial than billed with unexpectedly generous flavors that up the ante in ripeness, richness and depth. It is yet another of the Siduri youngsters that is not near to being ready for prime-time drinking and is at least a full year or two year away from even starting to find its stride.
There is a trace of menthol to the cherry cough drop-like red and dark berry fruit aromas that display a hint of sandalwood. Here too there is good verve and detail on the delicious and fleshy medium-bodied flavors that where the supporting tannins are present yet manage to be more completely integrated. There is a hint of backend warmth though it’s not really enough to materially impair the overall sense of balance though neither is it invisible. 89 points.
There is enough reduction present to push the underlying red berry fruit to the background and I would suggest thoroughly aerating this if you’re going to try a bottle young. There is an attractive sense of vibrancy to the once again polished medium weight flavors that possess good depth on the lingering finish that is supported by slightly raspy tannins. In much the same fashion as the Barbieri, the tannins are not refined though with that said, this isn’t rustic. 89 points.
California-based Siduri cellared and bottled this wine that was vinified in Oregon. Still young and compact, it nonetheless shows some good flesh on its bones. The tannins pop out a bit, along with red berries and a streak of coffee. Another year of bottle age would be helpful, or give it plenty of aeration. 89 points. Very good.
Elegant aromas of black plum, asphalt, black tea and sandalwood show on the nose of this appellation blend from Adam Lee. The palate offers hints of forest floor with mushroom and mulberry flavors, as well as a persistent woody spice. 89 points. Very good.
Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands gives intense notes of crushed cranberries and red cherries with hints of dried herbs and fallen leaves. Medium-bodied and finely crafted on the red-fruited palate, it has soft, silky tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with an herbal lift. 89 points.
Moderate garnet color in the glass. A fruit-driven, mid weight plus offering with a soul of boysenberry and blackberry fruits underlain with some spice, earth and toasty oak. Good integration of tannins, sleek in texture, with a little persistence on the finish that reveals the slightest bit of alcoholic warmth.
Medium-light to medium ruby; fragrant, spicy, red cherry fruit aroma with hints of clove and cocoa; medium body; crisp, moderately rich, cherry fruit flavors with earthy notes and bright acidity; medium tannin; lingering aftertaste. Easy to drink now. 89 points. Highly recommended.
