Shows sweet pinot fruit…inviting cherry fruit and a touch of earthy underbrush…
…black fruits with a whiff of vanilla…full bodied with raspberry and cherry flavors…not overripe…
Round and simple, with plum flavors.
Round, with notes of melted butter, honey and cream.
Smooth, ripe, rich and polished, with jammy raspberry , blackberry, cherry and spice (white pepper). Long, intricate aftertaste.
Tightly wound, with a firm band of cedar, wild berry, black cherry and earth notes, finishing with dry tannins.
Clean and ripe, with a peachy edge to the citrus and nectarine, turning cedary.
Tart, lean, tannic, and well structured, with cinnamon, clove and wild berry flavors.
Veers toward the tart side, with pepper, wild berry and cedar notes, turning firmly tannic.
Round, with butter, anise and crème brulee flavors that have good richness.
…if you like these hedonistic, high alcohol and raisin-sweet zins, try it with an equally rich game preparation, such as roast venison in a zin and blackberry reduction.
A beautifully structured, elegant Syrah packed with ripe blackberry flavors.
Pretty light-toast, pear, and cinnamon-clove aromas give way to almost cloying mixed fruit and a sticky finish. Very soft and buttery.
Forward and forceful in its winemaking induced notes of toasty oak, roasted grains and supporting fruit, the ever dry aromas find a parallel in rich, fleshy, full-bodied palatal impressions….
Ripe, open, concentrated and compact, the perfumed aromas of this full-bodied wine smell of blackberry jam and lots of vanillin oakiness, and the dense, fleshy flavors are equally unabashed…
Bright deep ruby. Aromatic nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite, licorice, bitter chocolate and minerals. Big, sweet and generous; superb ripe acidity gives the dark berry flavors clarity and verve. Not a blockbuster but possesses the structure for longer-term aging. Very fine tannins spread out to coat the entire mouth. Very long and bright on the aftertaste. Classy cabernet sauvignon-based wine.
Saturated ruby-blue. Super-ripe yet very bright aromas of black cherry, blackberry, flowers and spices. Very dense and powerful, with beautiful floral and dark berry flavors. Already offers compelling inner-mouth perfume. Finishes with powerful but ripe tannins and superb persistence. A big wine with a lot of everything.
Medium ruby. Subtly complex nose melds cherry, bitter chocolate, minerals, tobacco and smoky oak, along with an enticing floral note. A step in density; silky, sweet and suave, with nicely integrated acidity. Laid-back and rather stylish, but with a serous structure for aging. Finishes with subtle length and sweet, spreading tannins.
Good full red. Briary aromas of cassis, bitter cherry, smoke, shoe polish and lather. Dense and penetrating, with strong dark berry flavors that offer enticing subtle sweetness. Comes across as less broad but more fulled in than the Diamond Mountain bottling. Tannins are substantial but softer than those of the above sample.
More evolved color suggests consumption over the next 1-2 years is warranted. This is a medium to full-bodied, hedonistic, sexy, delicious, open-knit, tropical fruit-dominated (jammy peaches and apricots) offering.
Rich aromas of apple fruit with toasty vanillin oak and earthy notes. Fat and full on the palate, with creamy butterscotch flavors and smoky edges. Long, crème brulee finish.
Engaging nose of spices, toasted almonds, apples and honey. Slightly exotic, with par, melon and butterscotch flavors, and a chalky-mineral note. The ripe, almost candied fruit works against the relatively high acidity. Lengthy finish. Displays character and finesse.
Saturated ruby-red. Brooding, tight nose hints at briary blackberry, medicinal black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate. Fat and broad in the mouth, but more juicy and less filled in than the Rutherford bottling. Distinctly briary berry flavors. A more muscular, structured style of cabernet whose big, dusty mountain tannins will require several years to harmonize with the wine's fruit.
Medium-ruby red. Plum and red-currant liqueur plus a strong component of tarry oak on the nose. Fat, sweet and round, with a flavor of candied red-currants. A bit chunky and obvious but nicely balanced and not heavy. Finishes with good length and even tannins.
Well oaked and buttery, but retains a lively citrus freshness. Green apples and pears fill the center while the framework is all buttered popcorn and crème brulee.
