Kendall-Jackson's finest Chardonnay yet, a wine that speaks clearly to the varitetal's fruit-bowl complexity - some lemon here, some apple there, a little pear tucked underneath. Restrained use of oak gives it just a kiss of vanilla and nuts. Most welcome is the spicy crispness of the finish, helping make it a refreshing dinner companion. You aren't likely to find a more solid representative of the vintage.
Well balanced, with a nice range of spicy, toasty pear and pineapple flavors, all blending well on the finish. Complex and elegant.
Serves up a fruity core of mango, ripe pear and apple flavors complemented by lightly toasty, spicy notes.
Big, intense with substantial oak but enough rich fruit to keep it balanced. Has an understated minty, earthy side that adds complexity.
Rich and concentrated, with an aroma of toasted nuts and silky citrus and lightly buttery flavors.
The fruit is ripe, the wine is soft, and the lushness of Alexander Valley is clearly present.
Attractive vanillin and spice fragrances take an assertive lead in the nose while melony fruit tones fill in and support the perfumy character of the oak. Quite rich on the palate, the wine is medium-full-bodied and firmly balanced. While clearly reliant on oak for much of its aroma and flavor distinction, the wine has plenty of fruit at its core, and its impressive richness argues for service with flavorful dishes.
Appealing fruit, light wood and youthful freshness highlight this chardonnay which is a good example of the contemporary California style.
This is a terrific, rich, ripe and very tasty Zinfandel. Its fairly intense aromas convey a clear sense of fruit extracts seasoned by sweet oak. Supple on entry and almost succulent in mid-palate, the excellent balance of the wine provides the needed structure and support for these qualities, and its flavors and aftertaste are filled with the berryish characteristics that are so distinctive to Zinfandel. This one can be enjoyed anytime within the next half decade.
A smooth, rich and complex white that has an attractive array of honey, pear, and butterscotch flavors kissed by spicy, toasty oak. Deep and concentrated, finishing with a satisfying complexity.
Ripe and rich with black cherry aromas and flavors. The fruit is succulent, the alcohol is noticeable but it comes together in the end.
Smooth and elegant fig, pear, spice and honey notes.
Youthful berry smell and flavor. The toastiness of the oak in which the wine was aged helps make it approachable.
Spicy oak, cinnamon and nuts on the nose. Supple, spicy, and slightly candied on the palate, with plenty of sweet oak. Got richer and softer with aeration.
Very good cherry-red. Red fruit, caramel oak, earth and underbrush on the nose. Supple, spicy, pliant fruit; flavors are more autumnal than primary.
Herbs, chocolate and sweet cherries on the nose. Supple and sweet; rather Merlot-like in its softness. Black currant fruit offers immediate pleasure.
Deep game, truffle and honey nose, with an exotic marmalade quality. Thick and sweet, with a flavor of dried apricot. Smooth and concentrated.
Creamy oak scents lift and enrich ripe raspberry and cherry fruit in the moderately deep aromas. Sweet cream and nutmeg spice override the berryish component, and oak lasts a bit longer than fruit in flavors.
Sweet, slightly peachy fruit tones are accented by toasty, sweet oak scents in the fairly accessible and appealing aromas. Juicy, appley fruit and quiet oak.
Full acidity. Lots of fruit. Ripe berries, earth, sesame, vanilla. Firm acids make this succulent and zesty in the mouth, but the wine remains in balance.
Drinks well now.
Rich, ripe and complex, offering a pretty array of plum, cherry, currant and berry all dressed up with toasty oak flavors.
An oaky style, boasting prominent buttery, toasty notes which lead to a rich core of currant and cherry and finish in complex flavors and aromas.
Smooth, elegant, supple texture and attractive cherry, berry spice and vanilla flavors. Finishes with firm but mild tannins. Drinkable now.
A claret style that's somewhat austere, as cedar, sage and tar flavors are more evident than ripe fruit, which peeks through on the finish accompanied by hints of berry. Drinkable now.
