Pretty strawberry aromas lead to crisp, delicate flavors. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Blanc. Drink now.
An easy-drinking merlot with a good deal of smoky-toasty, oak derived flavours. Mid-weight and earthy with some tannic grip and a touch of bitterness. Offering a great deal of plummy flavour and moderate length. Tasted November 2019.
This is an elegantly constructed wine. It's not especially rich, but subtle in citrus fruit, roasted nut, jasmine, vanilla and oak flavors, brightened with notable acidity.
The name describes the wine. Big and bold, the tannins are suave, which makes it fine to drink now. Its ripeness imparts a hint of sweetness in the finish. It would be a good choice for highly flavored grilled beef or lamb, even in barbeque sauce.
There's a bit of a medicinal note, but the black cherry, cola, raw dough and roasted herb flavors have good intensity, framed by toasty oak and modest tannins.
Rustic, with cedar, black cherry, earth, mineral & iodine flavors, turning oaky. Drink now through 2005. 2,822 cases made.
Bright cherry red. Medium bodied. Moderately extracted. Moderately oaked. Moderately tannic. Brown spice nuances on the nose. Crisp focused cherry-berry flavors have plenty of firm oak flavors in support , with dry tannins coming through on the finish.
Ripe and fruity, in a lighter style, with delicate fruit notes, hints of cherry and wild berry flavors that linger nicely. (Also appeared 2/28/97).
Medium full body. Medium acid. Lots of fruit, oak and tannin. Earth, tar, black tea. A big, tannic blockbuster with an aggressive, youthful character. Oak lingers into a long, warm finish. Cellar Selection.
Deep ruby color. Moderately full-bodied. Highly extracted. Cherries, earth, minerals. Dense and structured with impressive palate presence and firm tannins on the finish.
Deep and opaque blackish purple hue. Full-bodied. Balanced acidity. Highly extracted. Moderately oaked. Quite tannic. Black pepper, tar, black fruits. This youthful wine is still unyielding aromatically, with a tightly wound, compact palate. Firm through the finish with an occassional glimpse at the underlying core of dark, brooding flavors. Though large scaled, its balance bodes well for cellaring.
Very different in character from the Zeni and Ciapusci bottlings reflecting another terroir. From the slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, a brambly, jammy wine with clove and tobacco notes, and a rough-and-tumble mouthfeel. Finishes a bit earthy and sharp.
Ripe, fleshy and earthy, with raspberry cobbler, vanilla and plum character. Modest tannins fold into tangy acidity on the finish.
Zeni Vineyard. Tanic, alcoholic nose with a softer, rosier color tending toward brick. Old vines, soft, sweet, ancient flavors. The wine feels a little bit pushed - the alcohol is too high & the finish is harsh, tannic and hot.
Big and ripe, but there's a tough twinge of bitterness to the wild berry, raspberry and ripe Zinfandel fruit flavors.
Bright cherry red appearance. Medium-bodied. Moderately extracted. Mildly tannic. Red fruits, toasted oak. Bright red fruit character up front. Simple, mildly chocolate finish. Quite youthful at present, with some high-toned acids, though still very approachable.
The 1995 Zinfandel is lighter and less well-endowed than the two single vineyard wines, but it offers a wonderful introduction to the seductive qualities of a well-made Zinfandel. In a vintage that produced many hollow, acidic wines, Edmeades' 1995 Zinfandel exhibits plenty of ripe, tasty, berry fruit, medium body, an elegant overall personality, and excellent balance and length. The wine's 13.9% alcohol is well-hidden behind the gush of berry fruit. It is a delicious, straightforward, fleshy Zinfandel that would drink well for 2-3 years.
The 1993 Zinfandel Ciapusci Vineyard exhibits a nearly opaque dark ruby color, and a moderately intense nose of berry fruit and earth. Closed, with moderate tannins, this is a structured, tightly knit wine that will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring. Drink it between 1997-2007.
A solid, chunky Zinfandel showing pepper, wild berry and spice notes that are fresh and vibrant. Ready now through 1998.
Dense and rustic, with notes of dried cherry, clay and spiced herb.
Berry, chocolate, and Porty flavors and firm tannins.
A Port-like style, fruity and sweet, with sharp acidity that adds more shock value than balance. Cherries, blackberries, plums and spice are at the core. Try this with a cigar or Stilton.
Bright yellow gold. Moderately full-bodied. Full acidity. Highly extracted. Pineapple, lemons. Sweet fruity aromas lead a fruit-centered mouthful of bright, tropical flavors linger through a flavorful finish.
