Wide, powdery, fine but firm tannins; a lovely density to this. Concentrated and intense, very straight and streamlined. Finessed and focused. Clearly powerful, the energy is apparent, but all the elements are kept quite tight and controlled, so you're not getting so much expansion or nuance necessarily. Still, well worked with clarity to the fruit and tannins. Wet stone, liquorice, toasted caramel all giving elements of wood but integrated and supportive. Feels like a sleeping giant, will be good in time, sleek and stylish.
Gorgeous vivid purple colour in the glass, so vibrant. Smells heady and perfumed with cool and ripe black and blue fruits. Aromatically expressive and alive. Smooth and so supple, clear and pure, the texture is like silk, smooth with amazingly finessed tannins and a real density of flavour. Concentrated, almost thick in terms of texture, this is a rich, full bodied wine with complexity. Well built, fairly broad and muscular, you don't get so much mouthwatering acidity due to the concentration but this is sleek and suave. A great balance between power and seduction with enjoyable mineral, liquorice and dark chocolate aspects. Potent, poised and compelling. Winemaker Nicolas Seilhan Nicolas Seillan winemaker. A yield of 38hl/ha. Harvest 15 September - 1 October. 3.67pH. 100% oak barrels.
Lovely intense and bright nose with violets, cherry, plum and hints of anise. The enveloping palate has subtle concentration and energy, all wonderfully balanced with some minty expressions coming from the 50% Cabernet Franc in the blend. Like Château Palmer in Margaux, this wine rivals a vintage like 2020. Never heavy or powerful but velvety, with Cabernet Sauvignon lending structure for a longer haul, even if it will already be delicious once released in bottle. The orange like freshness, tangy and not tart, with bright cherry and crushed strawberry aspects in a long finish reflet superlative work by Pierre Seillan and his team. Harvested between 18-28 September and ageing in 50% new oak.
A complex and handsomely oaked wine that's spicy and surprisingly light-bodied at 13% alcohol. Aromas of cookie dough, toasted oak and ginger meet luscious, layered macadamia nut and white peach flavors that show impressive depth and length. A long finish caps it off. Drink or hold.
Fantastic nose of rich cherry and earth. The palate is rich, layered, and phenomenal. Outstanding.
Powerful, with plenty of verve and polish to the generous flavors of morello cherries in syrup, spiced plum, black currant and juicy blackberry. Accents of bay leaf, sage and rosemary, along with pepper, black tea and licorice notes, linger on the long, velvety finish, backed by a hint of Sichuan pepper. Drink now through 2037.
Two blocks with lots of structure, both southwest facing, with 667 and 115 clones, at about 450 ft elevation. This is good stuff, says Moore, the winemaker, so he started popping heads on barrels to manage the structure, adding to the elegance of the wine, which shows so much rose petal character. He's using 50% new oak, but the oak integration early on makes the palate more silken, says Shane Moore. Imagine a cool rose petal sitting on your tongue, elegant florals and blue and black fruits. The finish lingers long with fresh mint and a touch of smoky clove.
So peppery, savory, smoky and meaty in aroma, showing the wild side of the grape variety. Sour cherries, black pepper, singed herbs, wood char, graphite and iron flavors. Medium-bodied, racy with acidity and nicely chewy in tannins. Drink or hold.
A suave, composed and subtle wine with great mellow fruit, spices and woodsy, savory accents. Medium-bodied, moderately tannic, aged in neutral barrels that Greg Brewer calls "exhausted." Hardly soft, though, it is alive with fresh acidity and lifted by fine-grained tannins. Drink or hold.
